Development of DCC Control Unit

My DCC control unit uses an LMD18200T integrated circuit as a DCC-line driver and a microcomputer PIC18F252. It communicates with a PC (Windows, Linux, macOS, OS X, Android, iOS, ...) through a MIDI connection. The unit contains also an LCD display, buttons and a rotary encoder (knob) for controlling the railway without PC.

Advantage of using the MIDI communication is that MIDI-support is available for all common operating systems including Android and iOS. Only you need is a MIDI interface (USB to MIDI) and an appropriate driver. Through sending of simple MIDI commands it is possible to control or even programm whole model railway.
